Muriel Audrey Johnston (Yates) passed away with her family at her side at the Brockville General Hospital on Friday, December 14th, 2012 at age 98. She was the daughter of the late Taylor and Edith Yates (Towsley) And was raised by her grandparents, John and Annie Towsley in South Augusta and attended Read's Public School. She was the beloved wife of the late Stewart Johnston and loving mother of Marilyn Schott (Harold) of Punta Gorda, Florida, Pauline Garton (Jim), of Hornby Island, BC, Robert Johnston, Brockville, and Judy Lawless (Jim Victor) of Peterborough. She was recently pre deceased by daughter Marilyn and son-in-law Harold. She is survived by eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was pre deceased by one grandson, Christopher Garton, in infancy. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, and an active member of the Brockville Curling Club for many years. Funeral services will be held at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville on Wednesday December 19th at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am. A celebration of life will also be held for Muriel and Marilyn in the New Year. In memorials to the Leeds Grenville Alzheimer's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Cancer Society.
