Obituary of Anne Louise Taylor
Anne Taylor passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at the age of 96. Anne was a devoted wife of 71 years to the late Dr. John Taylor and loving mother to six children.
Her love of nature and an active outdoor lifestyle shone in all her interests and hobbies and she inspired many with her undying enthusiasm for adventures great and small.
She was an experienced hiker and mountain climber. She climbed dozens of mountains in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine very often leading and guiding children, teens, or young adults on those ventures.
She skied many of the same mountains in the winter and enjoyed snowshoeing, and curling. She was a longtime member of the Lennoxville Curling Club and loved participating in a good bonspiel.
In summer she looked forward to camping, hiking, canoeing and sailing. No matter the season, she would enjoy what it had to offer.
She was an avid bird watcher, and could identify almost every bird she saw, and if she couldn’t she would relentlessly search her field guides. The few times she couldn’t identify a bird on sight were when it was a visitor outside its normal range. She had a particular love of listening to partridges drumming while walking in the woods, and could identify virtually every species of bird by its call.
She was a lover of gardening, both vegetable and flowers; taking great joy in watching things grow. She knew the names of almost every wild flower and where and when to find them in the woods or meadows.
She loved the outdoors and children both so it was natural for her to become involved with Scouting when her sons were young. She served in various capacities and on her retirement from the Scout movement was honoured with the Scouts Canada Medal of Merit.
Very community-minded over the course of her life she volunteered her time and talents to her churches, Sunday schools, Frontier Lodge, and various youth groups.
She excelled at providing tasty meals and instilled in her family a love of sitting down to eat together with family and friends. She loved trying new foods and often brought home new recipes or ingredients from her adventures away from home.
She loved traveling and encouraged family to ‘go have an adventure’ or ‘go have fun’. She lived that exhortation throughout her life and with her own eyes saw all the continents of the world including Antarctica.
For her life was adventure.
In memory of Anne donations to Scouts Canada, Frontier Lodge, or the Grace Village Better Living Fund would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com.
Family and friends will be received for visitation.
