


Obituary of Marilyn Jean Smith
Marilyn Jean Smith passed away on June 28th at the age of 92 after a brief stay at the Kingston General Hospital. She was born in Winnipeg and is the daughter of the late Louis and Wilhelmina Saunders.
Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Lloyd and is survived by her children Karen Fournier (Late Wayne), Grant, and Craig (Sally), grandsons Scott, Shaun, Kevin (Isabelle) and great grandson Aiden.
She was predeceased by her brothers Hank Saunders (late Bernice) of Trail, BC and Gord Saunders (late Beth) of Sault Ste. Marie. Survived by her brother-in-law Barry Smith (late Eileen) of Winnipeg and will be missed by her many nieces and nephews across the country.
In 1966 Marilyn and Lloyd and family moved East to Ontario and relocated in Brockville and later to Charleston Lake. Once her children were settled, she started her career working at City Hall where she remained until she retired as the City Clerk in 1995. As Snowbirds, Marilyn and Lloyd enjoyed spending their Winter in Naples and Summer at the Lake.
Marilyn was an original owner at the Deauville Lake Club in Naples Florida and will be missed by her friends and acquaintances there. She was very active in the social community and helped organize many theatre (theater for her American friends) events. She also enjoyed Saturday morning shuffleboard, Mahjong, the sewing group, afternoon pool time and her early morning walks.
A private graveside service will be held in Brockville at the Oakland Cemetery in late July.
