Margaret Eleanor Tomlinson (Harris)

September 12, 1935 – October 9, 2025

Margaret Eleanor Tomlinson (Harris), 90 of Ottawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side, on October 9, 2025 at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville, Ontario after a long journey with dementia.

Born on September 12, 1935, in Woodstock, Ontario, Margaret lived a life shaped by quiet strength, rooted independence and a spirit that reflected her proud Scottish heritage. 

Those who knew Margaret will remember her as both frugal and generous, a woman who managed her resources with care yet always found a way to give when it truly mattered.  She was fiercely self-reliant, valuing her time alone, often finding comfort and clarity in the stillness of solitude.  While she chose to live a more private life without broad community involvement, her presence left a lasting mark on those closest to her through simple acts of love, thoughtfulness and quiet resilience.

Margaret’s life was filled with moments that spoke to her enduring character: her commitment to living simply, her strong sense of personal dignity, and her belief in doing things her own way.  These traits guided her through both life’s joys and its challenges, earning her the deep love and respect of her family.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Edith Harris, and her two sisters, Anna Brown and Catherine Rosen

She is survived by her devoted son, Jon Tomlinson, daughter-in-law Teena, granddaughters Rebecca Tomlinson, Katherine Tomlinson, and great granddaughter Mika Nurani, who will carry forward her legacy of independence and generosity of spirit.

Margaret will be sadly missed by her many nieces & nephews; David Brown, Randy Brown, Rick Brown, Wendy Killeen, Susan Rosen, Scott Rosen, and Sandy Rosen, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Margaret’s wishes, there will be no formal service.  Her family will take time privately to remember her and celebrate her life in a way that reflects her quiet and thoughtful nature.

Those wishing to honour Margaret’s memory are encourage to carry forward her example of living simply, giving freely, and cherishing time spent in peaceful reflection.
