Obituary of Carol Frances Nix
Carol Alexander Nix June 30, 1949 – October 17, 2025
Daughter of William and Margaret (Barnard) Alexander, loving mother of David (Amy Perrin) Nix and Jamie Nix, Gramma Carol to Royden Nix and his cousin Avery Perrin. Survived by her beloved sister Susan (Rob) Ladouceur and aunt to their combined family.
Carol began her career as an itinerant instructor of French at Escott, Front of Yonge and Pineview Schools in 1972, before joining the staff at Athens District High School. She always had fond memories of her students and colleagues. Her teaching career ended in 1992 with the onset of chronic illness. Like most people with an invisible disability, Carol still felt the need to be active in her community in a reduced role. She volunteered as President and Newsletter Editor for the Brockville Myalgic Encephalomyelitis Association. She was presented with a Volunteer Award in recognition. Carol was also pleased to receive an Honorary Lifetime membership in the Brockville 1000 Islanders Branch of the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild.
Born in Montreal, she grew up in Mallorytown, before attending Carleton University in Ottawa where she made long time University friends in Sharleen and Nancy.
I felt very fortunate in my life. My thanks to family, friends and caregivers, the doctors and staff at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, BGH, KGH and Hotel Dieu.
According to Carol’s wishes, there will be a private family gathering at a date to be determined.
