Obituary of Glen Hess

Donald “Glen” Hess passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Brockville General Hospital with family by his side, following a brief illness.

Glen was born on a farm near Elma, Ontario, the youngest of 7 boys.  He moved to Brockville in the late 1950’s where he worked at Parke Davis / Warner Lambert for 40 years, retiring in 1996.

Glen married Joyce Eckford in 1958, and they raised their daughters Elaine and Diane in Brockville. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce, daughters Elaine (late Bruce Lamond), and Diane (Rob Baxby), grandchildren Dr. Bronwyn Lamond (Colton Smith), Ainsley Lamond, Tyler Baxby, Mackenzie Deschenes (Mathieu) and great granddaughter Sofia Deschenes.

Glen was predeceased by his parents Francis (Frank) and Sarah (Miller) Hess, brothers, Carl (Grace), Lee, Lyle (Edith), Keith (Hilda), Ray (Simone), Roy (Reta), and son-in-law Bruce Lamond.

Glen enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Many summer weekends were spent family camping when the girls were young. In later years he and Joyce traveled in Canada, the US and Europe, making many friends along the way. He was Past Master of the Lyn Masonic Lodge #416, and a lifetime member of the Brock Lodge #9 Independent Order of the Oddfellows. He had a strong faith and was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Brockville.

Family and friends will be received for visitation at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St., E., Brockville on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral will be held in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at Roselawn 2451 County Road 15, Maitland.

As expressions of sympathy donations to the Brockville General Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care Unit, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by Glen’s family.
