Obituary of Walter Salter

Passed away on January 26, 2012 at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street Site after a lengthy illness. Age 89, born November 17, 1922. Survived by loving wife Thelma nee Green of 62 years, children Gary of Ottawa and Betty Rocca husband Saverio of Sudbury. Proud grandfather of Amanda Rocca of Sudbury. Walter retired from the Canada Post Office as a Letter Carrier in 1987. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas from 1941 to 1946. He cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. His wonderful sense of humour will be missed by all. He is survived by brother Fred (Jean) of Battersea. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Gerald Green, Arnold Green and Gordon Green (Doris) all of Gananoque; Helen Maud (Walter) of Brockville and Marjorie Warren of Mallorytown. Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father George Salter, mother Gertrude nee Hart, brothers Claude, Bernard and Francis and sister Beatrice de la Rosby. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Sunday from 2-4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday January 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Escott. In memoriams to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
