Obituary of John Reid - Proud Veteran of WWII

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital, on Monday March 14, 2011, in his 92 year, beloved husband for 62 years of Catherine (“Kay”) Mary Brennan. Loving father of Mary Reid Robertson (Ian), Joan Shields, Marg Murray (Tom), Pat Reid, Larry Reid, Virginia Rowswell (Ed), Sandy Thomson (Glen), Barbara MacFarlane (Eric Pretsell), Karen Belanger (Laurent), Paul Reid (Nivea), Jim Reid. Proud grandfather to Chelsea (Greg) and Shannon Robertson, Cindy Shields Imai (Sean), Krista (Scott) and Jordan (Katie) Murray, Alexis and Brett Reid, Amy Tye, Kevin and Denise (Tyler) Thomson, Sarah and Betsy MacFarlane, Bridget and Nathan Belanger, Dustin and Leah Reid, Blake and Madi Reid, and 2 great grandchildren Helena Thomson and Jackson Imai. Predeceased by his parents, Grover Paul Reid and Helena Catherine Flood and two brothers Gerald and Francis Reid. Survived by sisters-in-law Alice Reid and Ella Brennan. John was a former councillor in Escott Township, and a legion member. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 1033 Prince Street, Lansdowne on Thursday from 7-9 p.m., Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Brendan’s Church, Rockport on Saturday March 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Brendan’s Cemetery. In memoriams to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Mallorytown Royal Canadian Legion Branch 484 will hold a Memorial Service Thursday evening at 6:45p.m. at the Funeral Home.
