Retired Chief of Police Brockville City Police
Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday April 17, 2024. William Meredith Gerald Curtis of Brockville age 91 years. Beloved husband of Marjorie (Godkin) Curtis. Loving father of Sherri Curtis, Bill Curtis (Patricia) and Cathy Curtis. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, James, Daniel, Angie (Ryan), Lori (Remel), Victoria (Jeff), Cari and Ryann: Great grandfather of Tayler, Jaime, Silas, Tyden, Ethan, Jaidyn, Brooklyn, Dominic, Carson Michael and Kennedy, great great grandfather of Weston and Riley. Gerry is survived by his sisters Sheila Grant and Christine Curtis and his nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Chant and Marjorie (Sheil) Curtis and his brother Frank.
Gerry was a man of strong faith. He loved his family, church family, the |City of Brockville and its citizens whom he served faithfully for almost 40 years.
He enjoyed traveling, especially after retirement. The last trip he and Marj took was a deluxe river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam, with extensions to Holland and Belgium.
He loved his cottage on Charleston Lake which he built and was proud that the lake he loved is still enjoyed by four generations of family members.
He was a proud Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a life member and Past Master of the |Salem Masonic Lodge. He was a volunteer throughout his life serving as a minor hockey coach and as a volunteer at the Brockville General Hospital.
Family and friends will be received at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville, on Monday April 22, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. ~ 12:45 p.m. A Masonic Service, Salem Lodge #368 will be held at 10:30 a.m. with all sister Lodges invited to attend. The Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held in the Chapel at 1p.m. Interment will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Oakleaf. In memory of Gerry, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Lawrence Anglican Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
