Michael St Thomas posted a condolence
Monday, April 9, 2018
My belated condolences to the friends and family of Captain George. He was a good friend to my father Maxwell St Thomas, (deceased in 2012), and "looked out for him" during the war. His beloved Lee lived behind our house in Oshawa and it was through my father that they met. I will always remember George as a gentle giant. A large man with a kind heart and a deep rambling voice. Both Lee and George were invited to my parents cottage one weekend and it is with fondness that I remember them gazing into each other's eyes as they began to discover their love for each other. It was hard to hide, even from a ten or eleven year old child. His carvings are still treasured by my mother Marjory in her assisted living residence in florida. Sail on Captain George, sail on. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Capt. George MacDonald. I will never forget how instrumental George was in my transfer from Canadian Coast Guard Fleet Ships to Search and Rescue Vessels in 1979. George was a very dedicated and professional mariner and mentor to many. Smooth Sailing George, you will be remembered.
