Obituary of Vladana Sistek

With great sadness we announce the passing of Vladana on March 14th at Brockville's St. Vincent de Paul Hospital after a courageous battle against cancer. Her fortitude and determination throughout the illness was a reflection of her strong will and love of life. A devoted and loving mother to Philip, age 15 (Lawrence Moyer) and Jordan, age 10 (Douglas Kenney), she delighted in her boys. She was the beloved youngest daughter of Dr. Vladimir and Jirina Sistek of Ottawa. A cherished sister to Jirina and Brendon Bulger of Ottawa, and Jan Sistek and Gabriella Sanipelli of Embrum, she will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Veronica, Christina, Justin, Katrina and Lia, her Uncle Anthony Hubschmann of Toronto, her Aunts Milena Hubshmannova and Slava Roubickova both of the Czech Republic and her cousins, Martina and Josef and their children, Marketa, Joe and Maria of Tottenham, Terezka and Petr and their children Martina, Ondra and Petr of Prague, Jacob and Sarah and Little Anthony of Toronto, Petr and his son Tomas of Prague and other family members. Special gratitude from the family to Bill Tutecky, her devoted companion, her tower of strength and source of happiness, for his dedication, love, compassion and care. Vladana spent many happy times together with Bill and his children Elisha, Tina and Ian. Born in Praque, Czechoslovakia, on August 25 1961. Vladana came to Ottawa with he family following the Soviet invasion of 1968. After receiving a BSW at the University of Ottawa, she obtained her MSW at the University of Toronto. She later moved to Brockville where she pursued a career in social work at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital. Many thanks to Dr. Gertler and Dr. Ashe and to Medical and nursing staff for their care and assistance. Many thanks to her friends and co-workers for their support. We will all miss her deeply. Friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville (Hghw 401, exit Norht Augusta Rd. Follow south; turn right onto Pearl) on Friday March 19th. From 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday March 20th, from 2p.m. until the time of Service. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on March 20th. at 4:00 p.m. In memorians to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care Hospital would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
