BRACKEN, Joan Margaret Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital, Garden Street Site , on Thursday January 31, 2013. The former Joan Margaret MacDowell aged 83years. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence H. “Doc” Bracken. Dear mother of Douglas Bracken (Kathy) of Lloydminster, Alberta, Paula Christmas (Art) of Sarnia-Point Edward, Ontario and David Bracken of Kingston, Ontario. Grandmother of Margherita , Jill and Lauren. Great-grandmother of Henry. Dear sister of Marjorie Rodda and Paula and Bob Ringma. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Joan’s life was dominated by her love for her family and lifelong friends. Besides her family, Joan’s other passions included quilting, skiing and travelling. She also enjoyed curling, golf, tennis and listening to great jazz piano music. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 11 am until the time of Service. The Celebration of Life service will be held in the Chapel at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In memory of Joan, donations may be made to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care, the Canadian Cancer Society or Branch 96 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Brockville would be greatly appreciated by the family.
