Obituary of E. Douglas Woodhus Veteran of WWII

Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital, Charles Street Site on Wednesday, January 28th. 2009. Ernest Douglas Woodhus of Brockville, age 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Agnes Ruby (Archer) Woodhus. Veteran of Normandy Beach Landing, June 6th. 1944. Retired Yard Foreman with C.N.R. and a former member of the O.P.P. Auxiliary. Dear father of Karen Knox and her husband Cliff of Peterborough. Loving uncle of Mora Thompson and John Bangs (Louise) all of Hawkesbury, great-uncle of Curtis Thompson and his wife Carolyn of Perth and Tracy Laframboise and her husband Marc of Ottawa. Will be sadly missed by his beloved friends Marjorie Brown, Muriel MacDermott and Cynthia Tyo. Step-grandchildren Dan Pettem (Anne), David Pettem, Wendy Deruchie (Scott) and children. Predeceased by an infant son Richard Woodhus, a step-daughter Shirley Poitras-Jarrett, his parents Harold Sydney Woodhus and his wife Ida (Campbell) Woodhus, brothers George and Robert Woodhus and a sister Flora Bangs. Friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street, East, Brockville on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday, February 1st. 2009 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. In memoriams to the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96, Brockville will hold a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
