KEAN, Ethel Mary Ethel Kean, nee Dillon, of Brockville, died on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was born on May 3, 1927 in Renfrew, one of eight children born to Patrick Dillon and Johanna (Josie) Lyons. Ethel was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Ernest (Ernie) Frederick Kean. Survived by 5 children: Heather McGrath (Paul) of Whitecourt, AB; Julie Kean Marks (Bruce) of Elgin, NB; David (Sheena Conroy) of Calgary, AB; Lorna Boucher (Marc) of Tecumseh, ON; and Allan (Karin Christlmeier) of Perth, ON; 14 grandchildren: Kurt McGrath, Scott McGrath (Amy Ryniak), Tom McGrath, Matt McGrath, Raissa Marks (Chris Frost), Josie Marks (Ben Surrett), Zoe Marks (Michael Berner), Sam Kean, Zoe Kean, Danielle Boucher, Joanne Boucher, Patrick Boucher, Garrett Kean and Kaitie Kean; 6 great-grand-children: Eva and Eileen Surrett Marks, Lianna and Abby Frost, and Brielle and Taevian Ryniak; one brother, Kevin Dillon (Betty); and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by her brothers, John, James Lionel, and Basil, and her sisters, Kay McGee, Lois Langevin and Joan Pietryga. A private family graveside service for Ethel will be held at Oak Leaf Cemetery, Athens. In memory of Ethel donations to the Brockville District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Garden Street site of the Brockville General Hospital for the care and compassion extended to Mom during her stay there.
