Obituary of Colin Phipps

Peacefully entered into rest at the Kingston General Hospital on Monday December 8th, 2014. Colin will be forever remembered by his loving wife Rosemary Kennedy having shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Beloved father of Susan Phipps and Jeffrey Phipps (Cynthia Redmond) of Ottawa, Lesley Phipps (Larry Gilpen) of London and Laura Lee Byers (Jim) of Brockville. He is survived by 8 grandchildren. Dear brother of Helen Jeffery (Bill) of Brighton, Carol Lett (David) of Victoria, Wendy Cyr (Steve) of Oshawa and the late Brian Phipps (Jean) of England (who passed earlier this year). Colin was one of the “Good Guys”, well respected and loved by so many friends and family too numerous to mention. Colin was a legend in aviation obtaining his Wings in 1949 as a member of the RAF, Flying Officer in the RCAF 1953-55, Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) since 1955, Airline Transport Pilot Licence obtained in 1958, Production Test Pilot for The DeHavilland Aircraft of Canada LTD 1963-65, Chief Pilot Lundrigans LTD 1965-70, Chief Pilot Irving Oil 1970-73, President Air Craftsmen LTD 1973-78, Transport Canada Inspector 1978-1988, and still working in his 83rd year as an M1/M2 rated AME for all his Flying Club friends. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Visitation at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville on Saturday December 13th, 2014 from 4 to 6 pm. A Celebration of Colin’s Life will take Place at the Brockville Area Community Airport, Tincap, on Sunday December 14th, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm. In memory of Colin, donations to the OSPCA would be gratefully appreciated by the family. A special thank you to granddaughter Ashley for all her love and support.
