Dear Diann and family
I truly benefitted from attending the beautiful service for your dad today. Such a pleasure to hear about his legacy and his faith. Even in death he is still touching lives because I came home today and had a grapefruit and thought about my faith. So sorry for your loss but wanted to recognize the impact his service had on me. As a former grandchild, a role which I excelled and adored, I could empathize with the grandchild especially. He would be very proud of you all.

It has been a great honor to know this gentle giant of a man and to know his family.
Despite being separated by almost the entire width of the continent on the few occasions we have been together, closeness and friendship were strongly in evidence. In fact it felt more like the closeness of folk who were together on a weekly basis.
Even though fourteen years separated me, Verna, the youngest in the family, I have always looked up to Herb and admired him, not only for his tall stature but also for his kindness and gentility.
Our prayers are with Lydia and all the Heine family during these trying times.
God Bless you all.

Our prayers are with each of you at this difficult time. We have lost a wonderful friend, extremely kind and warm-hearted man of God. Only wish we had known Herb longer but we thank God he allowed us to share a few special times with him. We know he is now out of pain, in a new body and enjoying the presence of His Lord and Saviour. "Forever with the Lord, Amen so let it be".

I can remember, as a young teen about 14 years old, riding my 10 speed bicycle out to the farm. It was going to be a day of haying in the field. My mother had said it will be fun, you'll like it. Mom we need to have a conversation about what FUN is.
As a city kid, farming looked like it might be fun. I am not sure if the fun ever came but Mr. Heine was there encouraging us boys and telling us what to do and keeping us busy. We hay'd all day in the heat and at the end of the day came in for a meal, some cool lemonade or Koolaid and then we'd gather around and get paid for our days work. The one thing I always admired about Mr. Heine was his calm, focused direction. He never said much, but he held a full time job and a farm. In his spare time, he was an artist. I remember looking at the art in their home wondering how rich they must be to have this beautiful art, only to learn that it was the work of the farmer himself.
I'm not sure if your skills as a farmer or a painter or an artist will be put to work in heaven but I can only imagine as I look up in the sky, it might be your job to paint sunsets.
