Entered into rest at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, on Thursday February 11, 2016. Charles Edward Smith of Brockville age 76 years, beloved husband of Viola (Sargent) Smith. Dear father of Edward Smith (Barb), Henry Smith (Penny), Gail Major, David Major (Sylvia), Robert Major and Fred Major (Roxanne), loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Charlie is survived by his sisters Patricia Barr, Carole Brown, brothers Ronald Smith (Dolores), Daniel Smith, and his sister-in-law Winnie Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Geraldine (Burns) Smith, a daughter Carla Markel, sisters Betty Pearce, Leona Maltwood, brothers Basil and Donnie Smith Family and friends may pay their respects at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday Febraury 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Reed's Cemetery. In memory of Charlie, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
