My deepest heartfelt condolences to your family. I am so sorry for your loss. I know first hand the deep pain loosing a loved one in death brings. Something that has helped comfort me in such times is to meditate on the hope God's word, the Bible, offers us for the future. For example in his word God promises that in the near future death, and the pain it brings, will be no more (Revelation 21:3,4, Isaiah 25:8). God also promises us that we will be reunited with our loved ones here on earth when they are resurrected. Our lord Jesus and the apostle Paul both had firm faith in that promise and even resurrected some who had been asleep in death (John 5:28,29, Acts 24:15). I simply wanted to share that comforting hope with your family. If you would like to read more about the hope the Bible offers you for the future along with your own Bible at home please go to www.jw.org and look under the tab Bible Teachings or copy and paste one of the following links:

To Sherry, David & Renata
Don is John's sole remaining first cousin- the son of his mother's sister Thelma. We knew Sherry & David when they were young, and met Renata later. Since Don was an only child, his 3 Henderson cousins were very close to him. And his interest continued despite the loss of contact for the past many years. The last time he called John, Renata had to explain to him who Don was, but they had a good chat.
So it was that a strange thing happened.on April 2nd - the day after Don's 88th birthday..
He was thinking about family, and wondered aloud whether his cousin was still living.
Yesterday, he repeated the thought to our daughter Stacy Wilson - & she promptly got on line to satisfy his question. So at 2:30 Sunday we became aware of the memorial service happening at that exact time. There is no way to explain such incredible coincidence. We are amazed. . . and saddened.
Sherry & David this gave us an opportunity to be in touch with you - to tell you how much John always meant to us - how close we all were in those early years when our family and John & Ruth's were similar ages. IOur David was born in the same year as you, David.
You have five 2nd cousins - David(Karen), Steve (Mary), Stacy, Doug(Sandy) and Craig (Tanya). There are 11 children of these 5 related to your children. Our children are all aware of the Henderson family, and the older 3 remember you Grandmother and Vaida.
Please know that we always had the greatest respect and love for John - for who he was; so share your sadness. We hope all the memories you have of him and your family will be a continuing joy to you and you will always celebrate how much he was gift to you.
Blessings, Sheila & Don

Renate and Family,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend our sincere condolences on the passing of your husband John. At our last board meeting, Charyl Trussell filled us in on John's significant contributions to the Brockville Theatre Guild. We understand that John provided legal assistance in getting the Guild incorporated, setting the constitution and was part of the group that worked for years on getting the Musitheatre for us. Thinking of you today,
The Brockville Theatre Guild Board of Directors

Dear Sherry and Dave,
I have many fond memories of your family. I used to drive from Toronto with Aunt Eve and Uncie to visit you - always being greeted by Heidi and later Misty. Ruth and John taught me how to water ski off the dock at the Willows. John got me on a horse( the slowest old nag around) and tried to get me to enjoy it(I was terrified.) While it's a relief that John is no longer suffering, he will be missed . Jan and Bill send their condolences too.
Keep in touch!
Love,
Mary

Dear Sherry and David,
I wish that I could have met your father many years ago- but the photos gave me a glimpse of parts of your lives with him, and of how very active and able he was.
I know you loved each other very much, and I'm glad that your father was able to express this to you both - especially in the last few years.
My heart goes out to you all.
With much love, and peaceful thoughts, April

To Sherry and David:
One of the greatest challenges in life is dealing with the passing of a parent...It pries open our hearts, it reconnects us to family memories and it assists us to release emotions that arise on a moment to moment basis...
Each journey is unique and each person grieving is unique...
It is my intention that all the Henderson family and supporters of John be wrapped in a blanket of warm love and light as you collectively grieve the loss of the physical presence of your father...(and for others, John)...
I support you from a distance and am only a call away if you need me...
Love, Betts xoxo

In Remembrance of Dad from Sherry and David
Dad loved having children around and he was always delighted to be teaching us and our other young friends about anything we showed an interest in doing or knowing. He made sure to provide diverse opportunities to give us well rounded experiences. When we, the three children, became teenagers he was known among our friends as BIG JOHN, meaning “don’t try to pull a fast teenage stunt on john’.
You could often find dad and Sandra in the den playing a game of chess, David and dad doing something in the work room and sherry and dad perfecting whatever sport they were involved in at the time. He was an active father with all of his three children. Skiing and horseback riding were the favourite activities. Dad rode with Sherry and David as well as with his former wife Ruth. A great loss for Dad was the death of his youngest daughter Sandra, when she was 47 years old. Sherry and David want to honour their sister Sandra too, as she has passed on before her father. Our hearts are full of gratitude and love for everything Dad has been. May he continue to transition in Peace.
