My heartfelt sympathies to you, Diane, and all of your family. Terry was, by all accounts, a loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather. And a vibrant, hard-working and very much admired member of his community.
Just remember that he has left part of himself behind. The love, the happiness, the tenderness and the laughter that you shared with him, will always be there to warm you.
My thoughts are with you.

I would like to send my condolences to the entire Halpenny family.
Terry was a delight to be around, even more so at the rink, whether it was the CCHL or OHL, or it could've been any hockey game, really!
His eyes always lit up when junior hockey was in the conversation... more-so when his son and the Erie Otters were mentioned. He was very proud of his son, Scott, and his continuing connection and legacy with junior hockey.
He never shied away from talking hockey, and discussing the virtues of various players, especially NHL draft prospects.
I'm sure Terry was already in heaven before the Memorial Cup final started, fishing pole in hand.
He may have even said a few curse words during that game!
RIP Terry. You will be missed.

Dear Diane and family - It was my great honour to have met Terry, who welcomed me very warmly, when I first moved to Brockville and started going to the dog park. He was a great friend with whom we all had lively conversations from cooking to travelling and sports to politics to music - he always kept us on the ball! Another thing I always noted about Terry that I admired was his deep devotion to you, Diane, and his family; he always had such high praise for you all. I will miss him a lot and cannot believe I will never see his wonderful smile and hear his off the cuff remarks. My heartfelt condolences to you all at this difficult time. Wendy

Dear Mrs. Halpenny and family,
I had the pleasure to get to know Terry very well over the past few years through our mutual association with Junior Hockey and the Ottawa 67's. So many wonderful chats about where the game has been and where it is going. His insight was appreciated and his instincts were almost always spot on.
He spoke at great length about his family and their accomplishments and always had a kind word for all. His candour will be missed as well as his good nature and his genuine laugh.
It is indeed a sad time, but when moments become difficult over the coming days and months, remember the things about Terry that make you smile. It is then you realize, he is never very far away.

I got to know Terry when the Radio Station decided to broadcast away Brockville Braves games. Terry became the colour man on the broadcasts and his knowledge of the game was invaluable to myself. I'll never forget the night the Braves won their 1st CJHL title in Pembroke. I think we both wondered if we would get out alive. As the countdown came to the end of game - Terry was beside himself and when the final buzzer sounded he shouted so loud I'm sure the listeners couldn't make out what he was saying but the Braves won and are Champions of the Central Junior Hockey League. Thanks for all the memories Terry. To Diane, Scott and Andrea and your children know that Terry will be remembered and certainly missed by many people. His work on the history of the Central Junior Hockey league will live on forever. GOD BLESS you Terry!!!

I introduced him to CBC radio and he became hoplesly hooked on it often blaming the time he spent on it on me. He was a huge presence in the Dog park, never suffered fools and always had an opinion.
When hearing that his last day was spent fishing, a sport he loved, I know he was happy.
I will miss him.

Words cannot express our shock and sorrow to learn of Terry's sudden passing.
He was a great neighbour and friend. Terry loved his family very much and we
enjoyed sharing stories of our kids with each other, as late as just last week.
He, along with you Diane, "raised" some great hockey lads - they were so
lucky to have you as billet parents. We often reminisced about boys that
lived at both your house and ours and what they are doing today.
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Hopefully all the great memories you made together, will help over the days
