CALVERT, Carol Ethel Carol Ethel Calvert, in her 90th year, died peacefully at Carleton Lodge in Ottawa on Friday, June 9, 2017. Carol was married for many years to Jack Calvert of Orillia. Dearest sister to Janice Reeves (predeceased), and Marcia Stephen. Loving mother of Carla Winchester (Doug) of Ottawa, Lisa Leroux (Bill) of Brockville, and Hillary Calvert of Gravenhurst. Cherished Gammy to Graham (Annie), Craig (Marie), and Ross Winchester, and Claire (Justin) Leroux. Predeceased by her beloved grandson Nicholas Leroux. Special Great Grandma to Aven Winchester. Dear Aunt and Great Aunt to several nieces and nephews, and a true friend to many. Carol was born in Orillia, to the late Cliff and Edna Dick, and lived there most of her life. She was a proud graduate of the University of Toronto in 1948 and demonstrated a life long love of learning. She worked for many years as the Church Secretary at St Paul's United Church, where she was an active member of the UCW and taught Sunday School. She loved music, especially church choir descants and ballads by her favourite singer, Frank Sinatra. In her later years she moved to Eastern Ontario to be nearer to her daughters and grandchildren. Many thanks to the caring staff at Bridlewood Retirement Home in Brockville, and the many angels at Carleton Lodge in Ottawa. Visitation will be held at Wall Street United Church, 5 Wall St., Brockville, Friday June 16, from 1-2pm, followed by a church funeral at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Donors Trust of Carleton Lodge, to St Paul's United Church in Orillia, or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
