Beloved husband of Gwen Sarah (Green) McWhirter of Maple View Lodge, Athens. Dear dad of Carol Halmans and her husband Hugh, Delores Coady and her husband Rick, all of Vancouver and Donald McWhirter of Mississauga. Survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as a son-in-law Lawrence Sorc. Brother of Jean Baldwin of Grand Bend, ON and brother-in-law of Donald Green (Lois) of R. R. # 2, Lyn, Jean Earle of Brockville and Carole Bourret (Tom) of R.R.# 4, Brockville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter Debra Sorc, his parents Alex McWhirter and his wife Jean (Telfer) McWhirter and a brother Tom McWhirter. Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street, East, Brockville on Tuesday July 22, 2008 from 1 p.m until 2:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at New Dublin Cemetery.
