I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Shannon's passing. He was my principal at TISS from grade 9 to 12, and had to deal with a LOT of teenage angst on my part during the early years! However, he always saw there was more to me than teenage rebellion, and I know he believed in me. In fact, when I was valedictorian, I asked him to be the person to respond to my speech, to which he graciously accepted. I know he touched more lives than he realized, and I will be forever in debt to him for being someone who didn't give up on me. Rest In Peace, Mr. Shannon.

Can’t express how we feel dealing with this news. Lost a really good friend as did a lot of others. He will be missed in a lot of places not to mention TISS, RCL Branch 96 and lots more. He was an early acquaintance in 1984 when we arrived in Brockville and became good friends thru connections like the Chamber of Commerce, Leeds Grenville technology centre +. Don’t really now what more can be said. Sharing what Susan and the family are dealing with cannot be compared.

Dale Shannon has been know to us for many years. Diann had him as a math teacher at ADHS for four years. Both of us have had him for our tax man for a number of years. We just want to say he will be very much missed and that he was a wonderful, wonderful man. It was our pleasure to have known him and intersected with him as a teacher, who was dearly loved, as well as our tax accountant. In his own quiet way, he was a wealth of information and a source of detail and guidance on many levels. We send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.

One of the greatest privileges of my career was the opportunity to work closely with Dale Shannon, after having first encountered him as my Math teacher in high school. He was a caring and compassionate boss and became a wonderful friend. I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Dale's family members. May your memories bring you comfort in this time of sorrow.

I ran into Dale a few weeks ago at an event and we had a lovely chat. He called me by name and asked about my siblings, SFDCI and my future plans. He shared a few funny stories about Sue and his kids. We ended our conversation with a big hug and one of his laughs, and then he walked away Labbatt 50 in hand. Remembering Dale Shannon, my principal, and the lessons he taught me that still guide me today: 1. Be visible - you work with kids, so be where they are. 2. Get to know your students names and what is important to them. 3. Make time to laugh. You made a difference to me, Mr. Shannon. Rest In Peace.
