It is with great sorrow that I announce the passing of my father, Dr. John Gerald Hunter, yesterday at 1:00 AM at the age of 96. He was surrounded by family and died peacefully. My mother had spent the day reading to him from one of his favorite books.
He and my mother lead a very adventurous life, spending summers working in the Canadian Arctic, traveling behind the iron curtain, working in in Sierra Leone for the WHO, traveling the globe, and my favorite, taking the family to Australia for a year while he worked on sabbatical. He was a marine biologist by trade, a designer and builder for pleasure, an avid reader and life long learner. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who needed help. He will be deeply missed by all.
