Obituary of Jean Ellen Thompson
Surrounded by love, peacefully entered into rest at the Trillium Nursing Home in Kingston on Wednesday October 3rd, 2018. Jean (Chuter) Thompson formerly of Brockville aged 98 years. Born in Teddington, Middlesex, England to Horace Chuter and Marguerite Whittington, she was the eldest of 4 children. She came to Canada on the Minnedosa Passenger Ship at the age of two and settled in the area of Escott where she attended school. Later she continued her education at the Brockville School of Nursing. Jean was active in her church having faithfully served with the Anglican Church Women in both Brockville and Morrisburg. Beloved wife of the late Reg Thompson. Loving mother of Mary Jane McKiel (David), Robert (Wendy), David (Marianne), Jennifer Wallace (Andrew) and the late Richard. Cherished grandmother of Maggie, Andrew and Sarah McKiel, Jessica and Reg Thompson, Becky, Erika and Carson Thompson, James and Emily Thompson and Colton and Olivia Wallace; and loving great grandmother of fourteen. Sadly missed by sisters-in-law Mary Pringle and Donna Treverton and many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by sisters Winnie (Morrow) McNish and Betty Voyksner and brother Robert.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the love, care and dignity shown to their Mom at the Trillium Retirement and Care Community Centre in Kingston, particularly to Valda and the Country floor staff.
Family and friends will be received at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville, on Saturday October 6th, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service which will be celebrated in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In memory of Jean donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
