I had the pleasure of working with Doug at Universal Grinding Wheel. Easily the best salesman the company ever had. Blessed with wit, sports stories and kind gestures. I never forgot him nor will I ever forget him. I send my deepest condolences to his family.

Chris (Arkeveld), and I, are deeply saddened for the loss of Doug. We have no doubt that he is smiling down from Heaven watching over his beautiful family. When we lived on King St., Doug always had a smile and kind words for us anytime we passed. He had a great sense of humor and wonderful heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I worked with Doug for many years at Universal Grinding Wheel. He was a wonderful co-worker and always brought fun and laughter to our office. He regularly brought boxes of doughnuts to share amongst us all and as I had dietary restrictions similar to his he never forgot to include a muffin for me! My sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Gloria, Shawn, Christie and families,
We were so sad to hear about the loss of Doug . His warm personality, sense of humour and wit, made it so easy to be his friend. Doug always spoke about Gloria, Shawn, and Christie with such love, pride and delight. Like most proud Grandfathers, he loved to talk about Maddie, Evan and Jack, who he adored. He was a very fine man and it was a pleasure knowing him.Our heartfelt sympathies to all the Brown families.

Our condolences to Gloria, Shawn, Christie and the members of Doug's family from the Faith Family at St. John's United Church and our Dargie family. Doug was a friend to all and an interesting person to know. I always enjoyed our discussions and the way in which he welcomed me to Brockville and the BCC in the 1970's. I am forever grateful for the way in which he stood up for one of our mutual friends. Doug was a person of strong character and a great supporter of his children as they moved through school and their participation in sports. Our respect for Gloria and all the volunteer work that she does at our church makes the passing of Doug a difficult experience for all. May he rest in the arms of our Lord knowing that his time on earth was filled with good humour, kind deeds and loving gestures. Blessings, David and Jane

I remember Doug going back to school days. Then I remember him as a hockey coach for my son chuck in the BMHA. Doug was one of those coaches who promoted learning and fun for the boys as opposed to winning at all costs. Everyone got fair and equal ice time and the boys benefited from Doug's insights and help. Doug was a compassionate person in big size. I am honoured to have known him. Our thoughts, (Carol and I) go out to his wife Gloria, children and family. Carol and Mike Larocque

To the Family of Doug Brown
Saddened to read the news of Doug's passing. I am sure had my husband, Cliff Clow been alive I would have heard that Doug wasn't well. Cliff was very fond of Doug and it was always a delight for me to meet Doug whether it was at coffee with the boys or on the street. Doug will be missed greatly by each of you, his family and each of us who had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with him. May God comfort you at this time and grant you His peace and His presence. I will keep you in my prayers.

To The Brown family, My deepest condolence in the passing of Doug. I used to play ball with and against Doug, he was a great centrefielder with a cannon of an arm. But he was a better person always smiling and telling a joke, everyone loved Doug. He called me "Stan the Man" every time we met. I will miss him. A friend for life, Johnny Shorey

Dear Aunt Glo, Shawn, Missy and family, Christie, Jon and Jack,
We are all very sad about Uncle Doug's passing. He was one of a kind and although we didn't see each other often I have very fond memories of Uncle Doug when I was a child. He never really changed. Always a big smile and a warm greeting. He was so proud of the life that he built with you Aunt Glo and your family and grand children. No more suffering for him but for us a huge hole in our hearts. We are thinking about all of you and sending love . Wendy

Our heartfelt condolences are extended to you, Gloria and your family. Ian remembers Doug spending a few days at the farm at Carley's Corners when he was a teenager. He enjoyed driving the tractor and doing other farm work. He said "Whatever you do don't tell my mom or she will expect me to do chores around the house." Doug always had a way of adding humour to lives of others and he will be missed by all. Ian and Lorna Carley

My heart aches! I remember Doug from Simonds Saw and his friendship with my parents - Howard and Muriel Jones. Whenever he was close, he would stop in, bringing liver for Mom to cook up for him. He was one of Dad’s favourite people. He and Glo were a great couple - considerate, friendly and fun to be around. My heartfelt condolences go out to Glo and family❤️
