Peacefully, at Sherwood Park Manor at the age of 97. Loving mother to Janet McGuire (Lou) of Greely, Susan Blanchard (Tom) of Brockville, Cathy Gogo (John) of Peterborough and Betty Prideaux (Thane) of Brockville; grandmother to Lauren, Joelle and Mitchell Gogo, Kerry Blanchard Walsh (Alex Walsh) and James Blanchard, and great-grandmother to Miles Walsh. Fondly remembered by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother and father, Anna and Joseph Harvanka, her sister and brother-in-law Anne and Bill Hricko, of Montreal, and her beloved husband Sam. Mary was born in Polomka Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Montreal at age 6. She lived in Longueuil, Quebec where she and Sam raised their family, then retired to Brockville in 1984. Mary was an avid bowler, winning many competitive events, and could still bowl at the age of 90. She was also a golfing member at the Brockville Country Club, where she loved to play in the ladies’ league and won the 9-hole ladies’ championship. She also loved to read, dance and listen to music. Special thanks to the Sherwood Park Manor Nursing Home staff where she received excellent and compassionate care for the last three years. Also, heartfelt thanks to Lana's Love and Trust and her team of caregivers who allowed Mary to enjoy a better quality of life for the last decade. A Funeral Liturgy will be held in the Barclay Funeral Home Chapel, 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville on Monday, July 13th, 2020 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at St. Francis Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to Sherwood Park Manor or to Making Play Possible, Brockville.
