Carrie Hands spirit surrounds us in so many ways - for me it was her bright personality at Girls Inc events, her kindness and even everyday as I cocoon myself on the forever lasting chair and sofa from Hands Furniture!
Most importantly - for her wonderful family it will be her warmth, understanding, comfort and big-heartedness that will be part of you forever. Take care of each other and press on in the warmth of her ever-lasting love.

Jason & Matt and the Greaves Family:
My sincere condolences to you and your families. For Carrie, every day was a new adventure. She loved you all so much, and especially enjoyed sharing stories of time spent with her granddaughters.
Carrie was an amazing woman, someone my Mom would have called a 'firecracker'. When Carrie entered a room, you could feel her energy. She was devoted to her family and community and worked tirelessly to help countless charities and groups.
The last time I saw Carrie was in December. She was back at Kingston General, once again facing a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Yet despite her own crisis, Carrie took the time to visit me in the chemo wing, to offer support and encouragement. That was the type of person she was - always so positive and supportive of others.
Rest in peace my friend.

Mike and I send our sincere condolences. She was so proud of both you boys. Weather it was a weekend in your homes or after a weekend at the lake she would always have a story to tell and pictures to show Monday morning. To her granddaughters Kennedy and Locklyn, your Maimeo was proud of you Weather it be a school play, Christmas recital, baseball game, hockey game, gymnastic meet, baking cookies, taking turns sleeping together she would always be so happy to have spent that time with you. Olivia, Maimoe would tell me about reading stories to you and your dancing and singing was special entertainment for her. After working along side your mom for over 7 years we formed a very special bond. She was my boss, like a big sister to me, my confidant, my friend. We shared laughter, tears and many good times. I have learned so much about so many things from her. Rest in Piece Carrie. I will love you forever and never ever forget you. "99"

We are fortunate to have met Carrie at Brockville. Over the twenty years we resided there, we had the pleasure of joining Carrie at her furniture business and during many business associations (BWB). We so enjoyed her company. -- We are grateful for her devoted service to the community of Brockville and surroundings…and will cherish the memories she has given us.

So very sorry to hear the sad news. I have many fond memories of attending countless Hand's auctions with my parents & friends. Whether at the hall in Algonquin or under a tent in the back forty it was all about the thrill of the hunt. Carrie relished her role. She was so proud of Jason & Matt and their accomplishments & she was particularly proud of the grandchildren. Carrie would often regale the audience with stories of their milestones & family adventures. When telling the stories her smile would light up the room.
COVID has complicated our lives, even funerals are not exempt. I was happy to be able to express my condolences in person to Matt & Jason. I hope the kind memories posted here by fellow auction buffs help comfort you during this difficult time. Take time to be good to yourselves & your extended families.
Sincerely,
Mike Milne

Jason, and Matthew, George and I are so very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I had the pleasure of getting to know Carrie when I worked for her. She could make a long busy day fly by. We spent time at her sales and also in private. Carrie had the unique ability to remember faces and names of everyone she came in contact with. Laura, Szilvie, Kennedy, Locklyn and Olivia, you can treasure your memories of her and read what all her Brockville friends post to help you see our side of Carrie. A liovely person, a friend who we will miss forever. God Bless you all, George and Elaine Worden.

How can we forget the smile, the laughter, the fun of those times at Carries auction. She was brilliant at
setting the stage for the pageantry of the event and each had the joy included in the finding of that wonderful treasure. The treasure, of course, was herself making everyone anxious to find the date of the next event. We will all remember and smile. Doug Hall July 27th 2020

I was so very sorry to hear that Carrie had passed. She certainly was a remarkable woman who will be greatly missed in our community for her many gifts and her incredibly generous support of local charities and fund-raising initiatives. When I look around my home today, I find that a significant number of my possessions came from one of the many auctions that Carrie and John held over the years, that I routinely and eagerly attended. I wish her family and most especially the grandchildren to whom she was so devoted and proud, all my very best at this heart-wrenching time. Colin Kidd

I did not know Carrie personally but I looked forward to seeing her at live auctions. Before Carrie I found auctioneers intimidating and the experience was not always pleasant. Carrie was different. She was friendly and patient and accommodating. Her auctions were fun. She shared family anecdotes and there was often laughter in the relaxed atmosphere she created. She was a kind person and I am sorry that she has left this world where kindness is not always so clearly displayed.

Dear Jason , Matthew and families,
I only came to know your lovely Mom after her diagnosis. Because I have experienced ovarian cancer twice, a mutual friend, Sandi Stewart asked if I would meet with Carrie to share experiences. We had a lovely morning together and I was so impressed by her smile, her attitude, her sunny disposition. We talked of cancer but we also talked about her family. She was anxiously awaiting the return of one of her sons from Asia? She was packing to go to the cottage with family. She spoke of her grandchildren. These were clearly her happiest moments ....The family at the family cottage. I saw your Mom once or twice after, always looking beautiful and in fact radiant, in spite of the stage of her illness. Carrie was a beautiful person. I am glad that I connected with her for even a short time. She will be missed by many, it is easy to see, but she will not be forgotten. Condolences and hopes for wonderful memories to sustain you through this difficult time. Sincerely, Judie Martin
