I just recently found out that David had passed away and wanted to pass along my condolences to Margo and the family. I was fortunate enough to have met Dave a few times after we bought the Newman farm
next to his families farm in 2008. We spoke about his farms history on a number of occasions and he was also interested in the renovations we were making in the old Newman barn. He was a great man and will be missed.

A belated but very sincere expression of condolences to Margo and family for the loss of David. David was a quiet spoken, but deeply thoughtful person with a fine sense of humour. I much enjoyed working along side him for several years. He was knowledgeable and very honest in his dealings with people -- an excellent manager. I also appreciated his personal depth, with his interest in books, history, travel and theatre. He seemed to lead a rich life, and always brought a sense of that richness to interactions with friends. Although we had not seen David in several years as his health deteriorated, my husband Jack and I will miss having him in our circle of friends, and we are grateful to have known own him.

Heartfelt condolences to Margo and David’s families and friends.
David was my friend and colleague in the library at Algonquin College and, since his retirement, I have missed his dry wit, his wonderful stories and his fatherly advice. He was a wonderful mentor to a young student and then, later, one of the best managers that I have ever had. David was a real gentleman and a very kind soul. I will shed a tear or two in his honour and then carry on – as he would have advised me do. Thanks for being you David – Rest in Peace.

David was always a quiet unassuming man who had a dry sense of humour and wit. He always made me laugh when he'd unexpectedly say something and I'd have to do a double take because I'd expect him to say something serious but a joke or play on words would come out instead. I will miss his knowledge of history of the Merrickville area and his willingness to share his knowledge in general
. It was clear to those who knew him how important Margo and the children were to him. David has left a legacy of his own and we were all blessed to have known him.

My memories of David go back more than 60 years to regular visits to his family farm on the Rideau River. As a preteen I always looked forward to hanging out with my big teenage cousins David and Doug. They always treated the city kid well, like big brothers, as we played on the farm around the tractors and barns and cows or went for a swim in the Rideau River or hiked to the nearby Locks. As a young adult, I benefited from David’s kind and generous nature when he took me in and put me up until I could find accommodation when I moved to Nova Scotia to go to school. During my years in Nova Scotia I got to know him better as I was included by him in his circle of friends. I have many fond memories of spending time with David over the years and getting to know Margo and their children, all of whom he was very proud. My thoughts are with Margo, Andre, Rice and Eve as they cope with their loss. David will be missed by many that he touched with his kind and generous spirit.

A gentle soul has begun his journey Into the welcoming arms of his Creator. What a gift it has been to know David! Despite his unassuming nature he was a person of great intelligence, knowledge of many many topics, and tremendous warmth. A loyal and loving husband and father, David was never heard to speak ill of others, and was always present to lend a needed hand. He was a man of his word, quiet and kind...and will be missed by all who knew him.
With much sympathy and love,
Becky (and Bob, who would readily concur)

Our great adventure with Honeywell research began when I first came to know your wonderful parents Doug and Evelyn in Merrickville on the Rideau. Later you and Margo came back from BC and the great Honeywell adventure continued. David immediately became our best friend and new found cousin. If it were not for you we would not have found the other 600 + Honeywell families we have connected with. What fun you have added to our earthly lives! Your presence lives on through all of us.

Our love, prayers and deepest condolences to Margo and family. David holds a special place in our hearts and will be remembered always for his soft spoken, loving and caring way. Never had an unkind word for anyone and he deeply cared for those he loved. Bill has many fond memories of summers spent bringing in the hay and swimming at the locks with David and his brother Dougie and many a milk fight in the barn. These memories will be cherished.
