Gertraute Guenkel passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved mother of Wilfred Guenkel, Prescott, Ontario and Gerald Guenkel, Southampton, Ontario. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Evan Guenkel, Jake Guenkel, Grant Guenkel and daughter-in-law Kathy Guenkel and Adele Roberts (former spouse of Wilfred). We thank all the personnel at St Lawrence Lodge Long Term Care Home for making our mother comfortable in her final years. During the challenging COVID-19 era, we especially thank Denise at the Home for providing a positive environment for our mother. Gertrude will always be in our hearts. A Celebration of Gertraute Guenkel’s Life will be held at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St E., Brockville, on Thursday September 9th, 2021 from 2 – 4p.m. and 7 - 9p.m. In memory of Gertrude, donations to the Brockville and Area Food Bank or Community and Primary Health Care – Meals on Wheels would be appreciated by the family.
