Nell was a wonderful lady and one of the fastest typists in the old Ottawa Citizen newsroom. I got to know her and her husband Mike very well as he was one of my first bosses when I worked with him at TV/Times. Along with fellow employee, John Labrosse and his wife Claire, my late wife Gina and I, and Nell and Mike we formed an informal "pizza club" years ago and dined together at local restaurants. The club eventually moved out to the McDade's lovely cottage on the Big Rideau where the six of us spent many memorable weekends together. Nell was a great host, always smiling and laughing at our antics, making sure we were all comfortable and happy. We treasured those times as we did our friendship with Nell, a great lady and friend.
