I was so sad to learn of Pat's death. She was a lovely person that helped many people.
Some years back I had a knee replacement with complications. I had to go for another surgery
and needed a piece of medical equipment set up in my home while I was in the hospital.
I needed someone to be at my house to learn how the equipment worked and then to show me how when I got home.
As soon as Pat heard of my predicament, bless her big heart, she volunteered to be the one.
Not only that, but the piece of equipment didn't arrive the day it was supposed to so she stayed at my house that day
and then went back the next day for when it did arrive. That piece of equipment was critical to my recovery.
I will always remember her with gratitude.

As I grow older, I have come to appreciate the privilege of knowing someone for decades, basically, most of our lives. The memories we have of each other are woven into the fabric of our very being. They become part of us, and we part of them. Months and even years can gap and still when we gather we remember and we go to the root of a bond that isn’t broken, that won’t be broken, perhaps can’t be broken if only by memory loss.
My sister Mary became close friends with your mom in high school, at St. Joe’s. I nosed my way into their activities and was accepted immediately by Pat, who didn’t care that this young kid was hanging around. I have fond memories of riding with Pat – on more than one occasion, skipping school when she was in grade 13 and I in grade 9. She was done school at noon, and I’d leave school, meet her at Nepean, and go to the ranch for the afternoon. I did get caught, eventually, on the same day that I sat in the hayloft window and watched twin foals being born. I don’t even remember the punishment my parents had for me, the day was “worth it”. I went on two double dates with Pat and Bruce… I was the date of Bruce’s friend…poor guy. I was a little young. Years later there were “the Hoots” at John and Miche’s. They had also become close friends with Pat. She made friends easily. When Mary and I sang quietly to her at her bedside at Bruyere, I was imagining the campfire, remembering Gilles and Pat leading the kids in “Singing in the Rain” scouts style. I hope we brought her there.
Your mom was special – feisty and caring – and she loved you and her grandkids very much. May you find peace and comfort in your memories of her.

I am so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. She and I sang in the choir together at St.John Bosco church, sometimes we even drove to practices together. We have been in touch sporadically over the past couple of years. Her smile never it up more than when she spoke of her kids, their partners, and her grandkids. How greatly she loved you all, and all of the travels you managed to share together. My sincere condolences to all of you. She certainly had a spark, and a great zest for life. She was not a "ginger" for nothing!

My condolences to Pat’s family. Pat was a first cousin to my mother (Leona McIntosh). I had not seen her for a number of years but have many memories of spending time with Aunt Bonnie, Uncle Norm, Pat and Ed at their home and at Carter family get togethers. My thoughts are with her family at this time. Laurie MacMillan

To Pat's family - I am so sorry to hear of my cousin Pat's passing. I'm related on your grandmother Blanche's side of the family. I hadn't seen Pat in many years, but I remember many summers at our cottage in Calabogie Ontario with Pat, Ed, Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Norm, and Christmases at their home. We had so many laughs. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Helen McIntosh

Would like to send my heartfelt condolences to all the children of Pat and grandchildren. I remember going with Simone and Raymond on Thanksgiving day for supper. Where Pat and Gilles had this beautiful meal I can't remember how many courses there were but I remember it was good. Then we would get together play the guitar and sing. Those were my good memories of both of them! Thought I would share that with you. Take care and stay safe.

I was so sorry to hear about Pat. I had last talked to her after her month long stay in the hospital where she fought off Covid and other medical issues. She was happy to be home and was doing Chemo but was so optimistic! I and my late husband Mike had enjoyed so many great times with Pat and Gilles, parties, dinners at each other's homes and many, many fun golf dates. We had got together with Pat for dinners, visits since Gilles passed away although once she moved to Ottawa it was a little harder to see her. I will miss her a lot! My thoughts and prayers to all of her family.
