Dear Shelby and Heath, Sending my condolences on the passing of your father. I am a staffer at PEO in the Chapter Office and I got to know Ray through phone calls, official meetings, and many social conversations at various PEO gatherings. Whether we were talking about the latest PEO policy, taking the CRA to task, or playing pick-up hockey -- he was gentle, with great generosity of spirit. My three years with PEO pale in comparison to his decades of volunteer service - yet Ray always treated me as a peer and with respect. Self-regulation works because of dedicated professionals like your dad. At our last Congress in September he commented that he hoped COVID would be over soon so that at the next meeting he could greet us properly ... with a hug.
Kind regards,
Julie Hamilton

We will miss Ray's thoughtfulness (he always sent a Christmas card), his amazing smile and his many conversations we have had with dear Ray (R.I.P.). My condolences to Ray’s family and friends. I have known Ray for 30 plus years through our passion of volunteering as a professional a Engineer with peo. Such a character, full of life and driven to help and make everything better for all. I often think about how many years ago Ray and his buddy mike lebonte would be living large. We were all on the west side of Toronto participating in a peo annual general meeting. As the meeting adjourned we were chatting in the parking lot, where I discovered my clutch cable was broken. Ray immediately and calmly invented a solution which gave me first and fifth gears..no reverse..Ray confidently assured me his solution which get me to Cornwall...yet..he had quite the smile on his face..Ray..you live on within us..I listened to your many ahead of the curve ideas and solutions and hope to bring “Ray Moments” to all when ever possible. Ray’s clutch cable solution by the way did get me home, .... the mechanic in Cornwall Laughed at the improvised Fix. Deeply saddened, tim kirkby

Ray was an engineer that my parents and I had the pleasure to get to know through the chapter network of Professional Engineers Ontario, and share a friendship with. Engineers are fortunate in Ontario to have a system that connects them with each other, builds community and provides a way to help to make their communities better. He always wanted to make life better for others and he certainly impacted my life in this way. Ray received the PEO Order of Honour in 1996 and was upgraded to the Officer level in 2012 for his 14 years of service to the PEO Awards Committee and his 36 years of service to the PEO Thousand Islands Chapter. My sincere condolences to Ray's family and friends. Marisa Sterling, President, PEO

Shelby, Heath and family: My sincere condolences on the passing of Ray. I have known Ray through our mutual volunteering at PEO since 2007. His dedication and knowledge to all the organizations he has volunteered with is an inspiration. Ray always had a kind word, a helping hand and was so very well respected. I enjoyed speaking with him each and every time, and even if we shared opposing views, our conversations were great.
Like many of our fellow volunteers and I am sure everyone he came across, I am honoured to have met him and shared time with him, he truly was a great fella.
I will miss his smile and his wit.
