February 12 1934-February 16 2021 Gerry passed away peacefully at home in Brockville age 87 years, with his best friend and beloved partner Carole by his side. Born in Quebec City to Brian Mackereth and Denise Monrufet, he later moved to Montreal to marry and have a family. He was a long time employee of Bendix Aviation Electric, and after retiring from Bendix worked for a short time at Canadair before leaving Montreal to move to his beautiful property in Mallorytown Landing, site of many happy family reunions. He realized his dream of owning a boat and spent many great days exploring the 1000 Islands and Rideau canal system, making the scenic trip up to Ottawa. He was active in the Mallorytown and area community for 27 years, making many great friends, and he was a longstanding member and frequent cook of ‘The Breakfast Club’ in Rockport. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his 5 children, Brian Mackereth (Karen) of Dartmouth NS, Katie (George Milukow) of Oakville, Bruce of Midland, Caroline (Mauro Ielovcich) of Chambly QC, and Heather(Richard Perkins) of Ottawa. Amazing Grampa to 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, he leaves them all with wonderful memories of times spent at his property. Survived by his brother Edmund Mackereth (Anne) of Montreal. He was the kindest, most generous man, who will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to know him. Many thanks to the extended Ostler family for welcoming Gerry into their lives. Dad never liked the cold, and so we will wait for a warm sunny day to have a private family interment ceremony for his ashes. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
