Reverend Glendinning was a very special person to me and my family. Not only was he our reverend but at the yacht club he was also a kindred spirit - falling in love with the mighty St. Lawrence River. My family grew up in the Baptist Church in London, Ontario and then in the church in Brockville (although those pew seats were hard!). We also saw the Reverend around at many functions and throughout Brockville. He always had a smile and a kind word and helped my mom through some very dark times. Once, when I sung in the church choir and we were broadcasting our service on the radio, I remember vividly that he came over just before we were going on air, and asked if I could sing a little quieter so the whole group choir could be heard! I was 11 and very loud!!! He knew it, but welcomed me in despite that flaw. The memory makes me laugh from time to time. My deepest condolences to the entire Glendinning family and to all that loved him. May the wind always move us in the right direction!

Roland was such a wonderful person - so filled with godly faith and joy in life. He was always so supportive of me and my ministry when I used to preach at First Baptist in the summer. Dear Family and Friends of Roland--Although I have known this wonderful and approachable Clergyman for many years, it was only during the last two years of my own personal sorrows, that I really knew what a Man of Strength and Kindness he was to others in real need of reassurance and comfort. Reverend Roland brought a new meaning to me of the Phrase "May The Peace that passes all Understanding be with You". Thanks Roland, and my sympathy to those grieving your death. Millie Craig

Our sincere sympathy to the Glendinning family and to his dear friend Mary. My connection to Roland was in the larger Baptist circles with CBOQ meetings and Assemblies some time after the death of Rita. Mary was the wife of my pastor, Richard Cross, when I was a young girl. Knowing each of them had lost spouses in the past it was good to see them both happy and enjoying each other’s company.
I will always remember Roland as a gentleman with a kind smile and his winning ways.
Praying for each of you as you mourn his passing and celebrate the life and dedication of this special man.
Sincerely,
Brenda and Ralph Mann

So sad to hear of Roland's passing. I hope there is some comfort for you, his family, in knowing how he touched so many lives in his time here.I too, was so fortunate to have times where we chatted and I always left inspired.
Also in his service at Career Services whatever the issue Roland brought wise solutions, always seasoned with gentleness and good humor, and kindness above all. He was truly one who reinforced your faith in God, not by his words but by seeing the fruits of the Spirit in his daily walk. One who no matter when he goes to his reward, to us, it is always untimely. Sadly missed but always remembered.

To the Glendinning Family: My sincere sympathy to you on the death of a very special Father and Grandfather. I had the pleasure of working with your Dad for many years at the Leeds and Grenville County Board of Education. In one of your dad's roles I worked quite closely with him and had the utmost respect for this very special gentleman. One of your dad's photo's fits him to a tee...always that beautiful smile. We were a very close knit group at the Central Office and most of our gatherings your dad offered the prayer and it was always most fitting. May he now be reunited with your mom and may he rest in Eternal Peace.
Sincerely
Pat Warren

We met Roland and Rita when he came to preach supply at St. Andrews Knox Presbyterian church in Spencerville. He always started his sermon with a good Irish joke. He preached so well that everyone, young and old, took home the message. He became a friend to everyone and faithfully returned for anniversary suppers and other events. After Rita's passing he was proud to introduce us to Mary and the two of them continued to bless us with visits wherever we met.
It was definitely a blessing to have known him. All the best to Mary and to Roland's family.

When wanting to leave young peoples meeting Sunday evening to go to the theater an argument arose with other young people as to whether or not it was proper to do so. Roland had the final say and asked what the movie was , which happened to be "The Bible" . Well he said that was OK and back then it was a big deal to allow . Thanks. It is an honor to have known Roland. "This light of mine I'm going to let it shine" is how I best will remember how Roland shined . David Sharpe

So very sad to read this today! Roland was the nicest man and he was someone that we thought would live forever! He not only looked but lived life as a much younger person then he was. I will miss him walking by our house each day in the summer and his cheery greetings. There are so many kind things to say about Roland and we were very lucky to know him. How proud his children can be of him. He was one of the great ones! RIP dear Roland. I will never forget your smile.

We have had the privilege to sit and chat with Roland on numerous occasions and will remember him as a kind hearted spiritual gentleman with a great sense of joie de vivre! Roland has always been thought of fondly by my family since I was a child. He was a spiritual guide and a friend who supported mom and I through times of sorrow as well as happy ones including marrying Rick and I. He always greeted me with open arms and loved to share a story of his travels. His smile was infectious and I was always pleased to see him. It is with love and fondness that I now sadly say farewell to this wonderful man. I am sure Rita was waiting with open arms to greet him. My deepest condolences and hugs to Lianne, Barb and Jeff. I know Roland will be greatly missed.
