Hello,
I was a student of Mary's at North Dundas High School almost 15 years ago.
I really enjoyed her English class since I enjoyed the academics and she pushed us to be better versions of ourselves.
I came to class late one too many times getting coffee from the cafeteria first thing in the morning, so she always let me make all the coffee I wanted with her little one-cup coffee maker after that so I'd start being on time.
She'd hand me a mug and I'd walk down the hall to the water fountain to fill it up, pour it in the top, and let it run.
She didn't have to do that. I thought it was really sweet.
I'm terribly sorry to hear of her passing. She will undoubtedly be missed.

My cousin Mary was such special person. She had a sparkle in her eyes that shone brightly. I felt that we were just beginning to get to know each other again, when she was so suddenly taken from us. I was so looking forward to spending more time with her and just hanging out. She was my voice of reason and helped me to see certain situations differently. My most recent memory and one that I will cherish is spending Christmas together in 2021. We had such a special time with her beau Tony, a truly special person that brought such happiness to her. I didn't realize that she had done so much and accomplished such great and important things. I have been blessed with a large family with so many wonderful cousins, not that any could replace her, but then again none could replace any of my cousins. I miss you and will continue to do so, rest well my dear cousin Mary, you made a difference, love you.

It is with great sadness that I have just learned of Mary Ryan's passed away on February 20th. Her obituary tells me we just touched the tip of the iceberg of Mary. We knew her from church at St John Bosco. She sat a few seats behind us. What an incredible voice she had. I loved it also because I could sing my heart away and was drowned out by her beautiful voice covering any of my mistakes. I never told her.
She was also one of Maleigha's teachers at BCI. Always a kind, gentle, soft spoken, which is exactly what she needed. Someone she felt safe with while trying to navigate high school. There was so much more to this gentle soul than meets the eye. We only had a glimpse of how she touched our lives. So sad to hear of her passing.
Dance with Jesus Mary. I know you'll be having the time of your life. You've prepared well for it.

You will be truly missed Ms. Ryan. She not only was my teacher through all of High school but she was a woman that I talk about to this day! She left such an impression on me and others, she took the time to care and know her students and others around her. She was stern but fair and she was a force for the ages. Rest in Peace.

My dearest Mary. The world has lost a truly beautiful soul. I will deeply miss our times together—the many years of shopping and shenanigans we had the fortune of getting into together! Mary touched so many lives even though her time with us was cut short. Always in my heart. ♥️

I have known Ms.Ryan for a lot of years. We first met at BCI when I was a student. She was an excellent teacher, mentor. I also enjoyed working with her backstage on various musicals that the high school hosted. I’m going to miss her very much. Something she had a hobby in which my mother told me she also had was quilting. She was a familiar face in fabric land as well. She’s definitely going to be missed very much. I want to say I’m sorry for the loss of an amazing woman who had so many passions. I know she loved her family very much as well.

I worked with Mary at BCI for several years and if one word could describe her it would be “impeccable.” She was very professional and highly organized. She was student oriented and had the best classroom control I ever witnessed. She was an old school teacher in the sense that if you were her student, you learned well in that class. I was lucky enough to receive one of her auction sale treasure gifts. Her kindness was limitless. I know she will be truly missed by all who knew her. Mary made a difference.

Ms. Ryan was a great, supportive teacher and person and she touched almost all students and staff who went through the halls of BCI. She had a huge presence and was committed to seeing all of her students succeed and reach their full potential. My dad, brother and I all had different relationships with her, but the commonalities were that she was always kind, supportive, funny, caring, and genuinely
interested in how we were doing. She cared deeply for her students, and I’m sure she will be greatly missed both by her extended family and red ram family. BCI will be forever changed by her lasting presence and memory. Our condolences, and rest easy Ms. Ryan.

So sorry to hear the news about Mary's passing. She was such a bright light and a pleasure to be around. Mary's quick wit always ensured laughter, she always made time to have a chat. Be it a cold beverage in her lovely back garden to show you what was new or enjoying breakfast on Sundays at the Tincap Restaurant. it was always a lovely visit. My daughter still talks about having Mary as a teacher in high school, how much she benefited from Mary's classroom and if memory serves me well, Mary was her favourite high school teacher. She learned so much more than the subject Mary was teaching.
My condolences to all of Mary's family, so sorry for your loss.

Ms. Ryan was my teacher for NBE 3C (Understanding Contemporary First Nations, Inuit, and Metís).
Ms. Ryan always made her classroom a safe place. It was inevitable that when you entered her room you felt connected with your classmates, even if you had never seen or talked to them before. Ms. Ryan always fought for the “greater good” of students, faculty, and all around wellness of BCI. My favourite thing that Ms. Ryan has passed on to me through knowledge was this quote… “For the greater good, please treat each other with respect. In a world where you can be anything, BE KIND.”
I will always remember Ms. Ryan for her small gestures, like saving pop can tabs for her mom, and always being caught eating an apple or an orange behind her desk (and of course she always brought a few extra pieces of fruit incase you were hungry too).
Ms. Ryan will always be a special part of BCI and everyone’s high school experience. As she really did reach out to everyone.
My thoughts and condolences are with the family through this difficult time. She was truly a blessing.

Ms. Ryan once made a joke about dressing up like me for fun one day. I thought I was just a joke but she did and we made our own little twin day. She was always so kind and an amazing teacher she will be so missed and I’ll never forget the things she taught me. All my love to her family going through this very hard time.
