Peacefully with his family at his side on January 18, 2008 at the age of 69 years as a result of complications from his long battle with Leukemia. He is remembered with great love by his wife of 47 years, Anne (nee Garah), and his children, Larry (Deb), Leanne (Gerry), Leslie (Carlos) and Michelle (Craig). His sister Carol (Roger) and family will cherish the presence that he held in their lives. The extended Garrah family has thanks and fond thoughts for the support that he provided to them in many different ways throughout his life. He was a very warm and thoughtful Poppy to Jen, Nick, Jessica, Nicole, Trisha, Kendra and most recently to Mackenzie and Ryan. Pete tackled everything in life with great energy and passion. As a result were excellence in education, career and hobbies which included boating and woodworking. Many have learned the waters of the 1000 Islands from Captain Pete. Many are fortunate to have furniture that is stamped "Handcrafted By Pete". He never complained and continued to focus on the things that he loved in life - family, friends, and fun. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pete's life will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. John's United Church in Brockville.
