To dearest Chris & Suzanne, we are saddened not only to hear of Harvey’s recent passing but to hear also that dearest Renate had passed away two years previously. They were our close friends and neighbours here in Willowdale for many, many years. We and you have so many great memories of these two wonderful folk that we are truly blessed and can say sincerely that while death deals a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Harvey served many years on the Board of Directors at YCC 24 “The Starways”’, Willowdale and did so both unselfishly and generously such that his extraordinary kindness and diligence is still spoken of by longtime residents as setting the perfect ethical spirit and example for all new volunteering Board members.
FAIRWELL FOND FRIEND HARVEY WHOSE LOVING MEMORY IS A BLESSING TO SO MANY OF US.
Jim Lucey,
President YCC 24
The Starways
Willowdale, Ontario

I am so sorry to hear of Harvey's passing. I first met Harvey when I tried to learn to play the harmonica when I was in grade 5 (1958). Later, when I started teaching, I had the good fortune of having Harvey as my vice principal. He became a good friend and mentor who valued the balance of professionalism with a vibrant social life.

John and I only had the privilege of meeting Harvey and getting to know him in the past year when he moved to Brockville. In the short time that we knew him, we quickly became friends and spent many evening together enjoying dinners and lots of laughter. A true gentle man whose eyes always sparkled when he saw one of us. His role as teacher and mentor didn’t diminish with age as he taught John how to play cribbage and they enjoyed regular weekly games for some time. We will miss Harvey and feel so lucky to have known him if only for a short while.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one's gone.
Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,
They'll live on in the heart.
We will always remember the precious times when we met our cousins Harvey and Renate. In Toronto Harvey proudly showed us his school where he had been the principal. Or we visited them in Florida and had so much fun, watching his favorite dog races or playing cards together. He always won, and if not he pretended to be very angry. We still see the smile in his face when he made jokes with us. Especially we remember their visit to Germany. A highlight – the Oktoberfest. We will never forget! The sudden death of his beloved wife Renate had been a great shock to all of us. All the more we had been relieved that he finally enjoyed his new life in the new retirement surrounding. And for sure he was blessed to have his children around who cared for him all the time.
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to have seen him last October and could at least talk to him personally in July. Now he is together with his Renata and we are sure he is happy again. However we miss him so much. We deeply share your grief.
With our deepest condolences

I had the privilege of knowing Harvey for more than 80 years - yes, 80 years! We attended the primary grades in Ailsa Craig Public School and we had Miss Love as our teacher. The future brought us together as educators in East York, where he was a highly regarded Principal. Over the years our friendship endured as we visited several times. Harvey’s warmth and quiet demeanour made him special to everyone. His family loved him dearly and supported him until his passing. Dick and Puddy Dodds

Farewell Big H,
I enjoyed so much having you in my life. You were a teacher, a mentor , buddy, and all around beautiful humanitarian.
You always focused on the underdog as persons in need of uplifting, and your kind and gentle ways were hard to miss.
Thank you for the many lessons you taught me through your mannerisms and powerful words . You were a quite man , but when you spoke, we listened.
I can't express what your words mean to me, but needless to say ; your sentiments will be with me forever.
You were a wonderful father in law that I will never forget. I will honour your memory by always treating your daughter the way she deserve to be treated. Please say hello to Renate for me. You will both be missed , until we meet again.
God bless you Sir.
Love Anton

My deepest sympathy Chris and Suzanne. I’ve always believed that people are put in your life for a reason. Harvey was put in my life for the gift of friendship. From the moment I met Harvey and Renate it was like “coming home.” That feeling of belonging and knowing your life was better because they were in it. He was truly a gentle soul and a wonderful listener. I will truly miss him.
May eternal rest be granted unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
