Obituary of Seya Jacoba Nederlof

Seya Jacoba Nederlof passed away peacefully at St Lawrence Lodge on January 20, 2023 with her loved ones at her side. Seya was born in Bussum, Holland, The Netherlands on December 12, 1936, the second of four children. She will be missed by her sisters Hannie, Lenie, and cousin Leny and their families in Europe. Seya will also be missed by her Canadian family Nellie Holmes, Joe Mulder [Karen], Sue Beckstead [John] and their families.

Seya was predeceased by her parents Bastiaan and Jacoba Johanna Cornelia Nederlof, her brother Bastiaan Nederlof, Tante Cor, and her dear friend Susan Mulder.

Seya came to Canada at age 31 to teach Primary school at John Knox Christian School. She spent her life serving her Lord and taking care of many members of the community. Where there was a need Seya would step up to help. She loved caring for her adopted family as well as the sick and elderly. She was a long time volunteer at the hospitals, Meals on Wheels and Bethel Christian Reformed Church. She will always be remembered for her love of singing, her love of animals and her deep devotion to the people she loved.

In keeping with Seya’s wishes, cremation will take place and a private family interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Ontario SPCA Leeds and Grenville Animal Centre, Bethel Christian Reformed Church or charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
