Obituary of Shirley Elaine Cooper

Passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday April 1st, 2023 with family, Shirley Elaine Cooper (nee Bolton) of Brockville. Beloved wife of Alfred “Ivan” Cooper for sixty-six years of marriage. Loving mother of Sandra Cooper (Steve Walton) of Maitland, and Brenda Cooper Cassell of Brockville. Cherished grandmother of Brittany Cassell of Prescott and Allison Schneider (Jeremy) and great grandmother of Ryleigh and Grayson Schneider of Wainfleet, Ontario. Dear sister of Barbara Gordon (William) of Oshawa, and aunt of Marie Zajac (Paul) of Brighton, and great aunt of Lindsey Russo (Michael) of Courtice, and Steve Zajac (Samantha) of Pontypool, Kelly Mercer (John) of Kitchener and Jenny Hogan (John) of Oshawa as well as great great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Marion Bolton and sister Carol Wright (the late Gary).

Shirley was a graduate of the nursing program at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital and went on in later life to expand the Palliative Care Program at St. Vincent De Paul Hospital, regarding grief counseling. Not only was she a central part in her family and friends’ lives, she also enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Europe and experiencing many southern cruises.

The family would like to thank all her family and friends for their support as well as Dr. Hoyeck and Father Guthrie.

As per Shirley’s wishes, a private Family Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Shirley, donations to the Leeds and Grenville SPCA, Canadian Cancer Society, or St. Paul’s Anglican Church would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
