Obituary of Shirley Cicel Reynolds

In her final moments, she uttered simply:

"I was happy."

Those words belonged to a woman who never sought anything for herself but gave everything to her four remarkable children. Despite the limited time she had for herself, knowing that her children were flourishing brought her the purest sense of fulfillment.

When looking back at pictures of Shirley throughout the years, one would find a subtly stunning woman with a waist like a wasp, blessedly natural tinted lips, legs for days, and impeccable bone structure. A woman that possessed the physical attributes that could have graced the runway. However, that was not her way; she never desired to steal the spotlight. Instead, her razor-sharp wit left those on the receiving end of her quick quips in a state of awe.

Shirley's life was more than just motherhood; she also held a prominent role as a social worker at Brockville's Psychiatric Hospital. The children fondly remember her selflessly opening her home to patients in search of meaning, entrusting them to care for her own kids during her busy work schedule. From the outside it may not have seemed the most prudent of decisions, however this exceptional social worker understood that trust was a powerful catalyst for rehabilitation. She treated these individuals with the respect and dignity they deserved, acknowledging their shared humanity.

Shirley you leave us all truly inspired and ultimately so grateful to have been chosen to be your family.
