Verta Marion Casselman 88, died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Brockville General Hospital, Garden St. Site She was born on October 4, 1925 in Birch Grove, Nova Scotia to Henry and Grace Cornforth. Verta came to Brockville in 1946, married and raised a family of four. She married Rev. Donald Casselman in 1989 and celebrated their 25th Anniversary on May 6, 2014. She was a devoted wife and mother who lived her life for her family and will be sadly missed by her daughter Marlane Stover Barrington (JC), Ron Barrington (Louise), Bruce Barrington (Sue), George Henry Barrington (Arlene), step-daughter Marilyn Moore (David) and step-son Gord Casselman (Susie). She will be dearly missed by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She is survived by 3 siblings Thelma, Earle and Rhoda. Predeceased by siblings Rita, George, Lena, Ada and twin sister Verna. Also predeceased by Edward John Barrington and Bob Ballantyne. Relatives and friends may join the family, in the Celebration of Verta's life, to be held in the chapel of Barclay Funeral Home, Brockville at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 23, with reception following. Private Interment will follow at Oak Leaf Cemetery, Athens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations in Verta's memory may be made to The First Baptist Church or charity of your choice, and will be appreciated and acknowledge by Verta's family.
