Sandra MacIntosh

Obituary of Sandra Christine MacIntosh

It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandra MacIntosh shares the news of her passing in the early hours of February 3, 2024. We are thankful that she remained independent and fairly healthy until the last two weeks, and was able to celebrate her 91st birthday with family in November. Sandra was born Christine Alexandra Maciver on November 5, 1932 in North Bay, ON to Catherine Bell (Clarkson) and Donald Angus Maciver, both born in Scotland.

She was a proud graduate of the K.G.H. Nursing program, and graduated as an R.N. with the class of 1954, with whom she has maintained contacts at reunions over the years.

Sandra cherished time spent with her family. She is remembered fondly for her dry wit, her realistic view of the world, her sneaky cardplaying and her catchy quotes like “Getting old is a bitch!”, “That’s crazy!” and our favourite, “It IS what it is!”.

Memorable moments were spent at the family cottage on Charleston Lake, travelling the world for close to 40 years in retirement and, of course, playing cards.

Sandra was predeceased by her beloved husband Earl in January 2018. They had been married 62 years. She is survived by her children Shelley (Dan), Lisa, Tana (John) and Ross (Joanne), along with 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. At Sandra’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family gathering will be held in the spring.

Those wishing to honour Sandra’s memory may wish to contribute to the Brockville District Hospital Foundation. Many thanks to the B.G.H. staff for their care and compassion. Arrangements entrusted to the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville. Messages of Condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com
