Betty Halladay

Obituary of Betty Halladay

Passed away peacefully in her 99th year at Brockville General Hospital February 5,2024

Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.  She was predeceased by her parents Bert and Frances Huckson (nee Whybra), husband James Halladay. Also she was predeceased by ex-husband Morley Dimma, Grandson Sean Slack and Great Granddaughter Carsyn Henderson.

Betty is survived by her brother Bob Huckson (Eva), daughters Lynne (Lee), Lois (Jim) and Susan (Tommie), Grandsons Robert Slack(Donna), Dwayne Slack (Genevieve) Bert Henderson (Jenn), Kent Henderson (Cinnamon), Tyler Kaddatz (Chloe), Great Granddaughters Kaitlyn Henderson and Raquel DuBois, Great Grandsons Owen Henderson, Kolin Henderson and Karter Henderson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mum/Grandma Betty loved everybody and everybody loved her.  She never complained and was unbelievably positive almost all of the time.  She made friends everywhere she went.    She lived in many places and loved to volunteer, women’s shelters, food banks, thrift stores to name just a few.

She was incredibly social and when Covid hit she decided to move to Sherwood Park Manor where she spent her last 4 years.  All of the staff there fell in love with her and she loved them too.  She particularly enjoyed her daily exercise, playing cards, bingo, Pub day and any activities that were offered at the Manor.

When she got a chance for an outing she always liked to visit Blockhouse Island, have a happy hour cocktail and meals and visits with family and friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Sherwood Park Manor for their love and care.  She will be sorely missed by so many.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held in the spring. In memory of Betty, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Sherwood Park Manor would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville entrusted with the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com
