Obituary of Jim Green
Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday April 30, 2024. James Stanley Green “Jim” aged 67 years. Beloved son of the late Donald and Lois Green, of Lyn, Ontario. Dear brother of Frederick Green (Sharon), predeceased by a sister LuAnn. Uncle to Cory Green, Crystal Green, predeceased by Robert Green. Great Uncle to Lucas, Nicholas, Christopher, Brianna and Emily Sturgeon, Great-great Uncle to Leighton. Jim is the nephew of Carole Bourret (the late Tom), the late Jean Earle (Howard), late Gwen McWhirter (William), Alan and Ronald McClelland (Sharon), Donna Ryan (Bill), Lynda Derue (George), the late Phyllis Hunt (Joe)James and Bud McClelland, Elizabeth Neven Borstmayer, Gladys Sagriff and Great Aunt Lillian Burns. Jim was the grandchild of the late Stanley and Edythe Green and will be missed by his numerous cousins.
In 1976 James graduated from Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf in Belleville, Over the years, James was a hard working employee in the Brockville, and Ottawa area, working for, J.A Johnson shoes, Zellers, Performance Motor (Mazda), Tannis Foods, The Corel Center, The Canadian Employment and Immigration Commission, and upon his return to Brockville in 2009, he worked as a farm hand until his retirement in 2015. James never let the fact that he was deaf keep him from doing what he wanted to do. He enjoyed watching Nascar, and Hockey. He had also been a bench staff member for minor hockey in Ottawa. Family and friends will treasure fond memories of him attending hockey games to cheer them on, he is also well known for keeping them all smiling and laughing with the humorous videos, images, and stories he would send them.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team at the Brockville General Hospital for their compassion, commitment and ability to navigate the communication barrier due to Jim being deaf. Also a heart felt thank you to the interpreters Sarah, Renee, Courtney, Erika and Debbie from the Canadian Hearing Service who were beside Jim to help navigate through his cancer diagnosis. The Family couldn’t be more grateful for all the love and support his cousin Elaine Pittman gave to Jim in his last years.
A Graveside Service for Jim will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Reception to follow at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street E., Brockville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care or the Canadian Hearing Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
