Jamie Froats

Obituary of Jamie Froats

It is with deeply saddened hearts, that the family announce the passing of Jamie Froats, 40, of Brockville on June 8th, 2024 at Toronto. Jamie was born May 5th, 1984 in Peterborough, to Tim Froats and the late Sheri Lynn Landon Froats.

Jamie attended the University of Ottawa and graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences degree. He went on to further his studies at Queens University, where he achieved a Master of Arts Degree in Criminology and a Law Degree. Jamie worked as a lawyer specializing in wills and estates, as well as criminal law.

Jamie will be remembered for his lovable, charismatic and witty personality. Friends will remember him for his sense of humour, his ability to make others laugh and a demeanour that was fun to be around.

He was a voracious reader and enjoyed admirable prowess with both the written and spoken word. He enjoyed politics and professional sports team leadership, and had a discerning eye for certain personality traits he admired and could reference these effortlessly. Jamie admired strong characters who endured struggles and tragedy in life, and perhaps he saw those reflections in himself.

Jamie was compassionate, humble* and kind. He reminded us that every human being is more than their titles and possessions, and should not be judged by their momentary transgressions or the products of their past.

The family wish to express their sincere appreciation for all of those involved in Jamie’s care. Your unwavering support did not go unnoticed.

Jamie is survived by his father, Tim (Mary Jane), his siblings Mark (Sherri) and Sommer Barron (Jonathan), his step siblings Dylan Wyatt and Shelby Wyatt (Jordan Latham), his grandmother Patricia Landon, his uncle Larry Landon and aunt Marilyn Landon, his aunt Susan Kennedy (Cecil) and his cousin Shaun Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sheri Lynn, and by his grandparents Ralph and Lorna Froats and Dwight Landon.

Cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to Barclay Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Friends and family plan to have a social gathering in the summer for those wishing to remember and honour Jamie.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health.

*Jamie would be overly apologetic you took time out of your day to read this and he would wonder if there was anything more important you could have been doing instead.
