Douglas Noonan

Obituary of Douglas Leo Noonan

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Leo Noonan on June 22, 2024 at the Brockville General Hospital.  Douglas was born in Brockville on October 8, 1939 to his parents John Noonan and Nellie Noonan (Colville).  He spent his 84 years guided by his deep faith, his love for his family and friends and in constant service to others.  He is predeceased by his brother Dennis Noonan, nephew Randy Noonan and niece Sandra Noonan.  Douglas was a loving and devoted husband of 62 years to his wife Merrilee (nee Crites) and adored father to his daughter Michele and son Douglas Jr.  He will be greatly missed by his sister June Robertson (the late Robert) and his brothers Richard (Kathleen), James (Marguerite), and David (Selma).  He will also be fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in law, friends and neighbours.

Douglas was a confident and hard worker from the time he was a boy and spent a lifetime learning new skills and developing his many talents.  After college and apprenticing at Armstrong Motors and later working at Brockville Motors, he started his own business and pursued his vocation in the autobody business.  Following his career and with great joy, Douglas pursued his other passions and talents, including music and woodworking which led him to build beautiful musical instruments.  He was known for always singing, making people laugh, being a great listener, and for his ability to repair, restore or build anything.  Whatever Douglas did in his life he did it with excellence.

His faith, wisdom and compassion made Douglas a guiding light for all blessed to have known him. He will be forever missed and forever in our hearts.

Family and friends will be received at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East, Brockville, Ont. on June 26, 5-8 pm.
