Obituary of Mary Hilda Cooke

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Hilda Elsie Cooke (nee Rieveley) announce her passing on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. 

 Mary was born March 21, 1947, in Vancouver, BC, to William and Jessie Rieveley. The family, including younger sisters Hilda and Kathleen, moved east in 1957, finally settling in Brockville, Ontario. Mary married Rodney William Cooke in November 1966 and had two children, Diane and David.  

 After a long battle with cancer, Mary left this world with her sister Kathy VanDusen and her two children by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Hilda, and her husband Rodney. She will be lovingly remembered by Kathy, Diane, David, daughter-in-law Jenny Govier, and grandchild Alice, as well as numerous family members and friends. 

 Through her final days, Mary was so grateful for all the love and support she received from family and friends from many stages of her life. This meant so much to her. 

 Mary and her family would like to thank the Brockville General Hospital, Palliative Care, and the MAID Program for allowing her to determine how to end her suffering.  

 A Celebration of Life will be held in her memory at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E Brockville from 1-3 pm, on September 7, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brockville SPCA  would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
