Obituary of Richard Stephen Steenwyk
Rick passed away peacefully with his wife and two daughters hand in hand surrounded by family at his side on Tuesday October 1st, 2024, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband and soulmate of Shelley Steenwyk. Treasured father of Sarah and Shannon. Loving PA of Cohen, Brooklyn and Carter. Dear brother of Bill (Mary) Steenwyk and brother-in-law of John (Debbie) Peeler and Scott (Tammy) Peeler and son-in-law of Claudia Peeler. He will be dearly missed by his cherished nephew Curtis. Rick is survived by numerous nephews as well. Rick is predeceased by his parents Pieter and Tryntje Steenwyk and his siblings Minna, Albert and Bobby. Rick will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was a fantastic salesman, starting his career at Wolseley Canada, where he was employed for 33 years. He later continued his career with the Canature WaterGroup. The family would like to give thanks to the Palliative care program of Brockville for all their support on this journey this past year.
Family and Friends will be received for visitation at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street, East, Brockville on Sunday October 6th, 2024 from 1 – 3 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with reception immediately following.
