Obituary of Helen Burridge
BURRIDGE, Helen Doris Elaine (1939 to 2024)
Helen (Chant) Burridge peacefully entered into rest with family by her side on Thursday October 17th, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa. Born in Athens, Ontario, Helen was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Burridge, and they resided happily together in Rocksprings until Ralph’s death in 2014. Helen spent many wonderful years driving her school bus, gardening, dancing and travelling with Ralph, and enjoying time with her family and friends. She moved to Brockville in 2016, and was content in her new home with a new garden to tend. Still surrounded by family and close friends, she loved her new location by the creek and the Brockville Trail. Over the last few years, Helen resided at Bridlewood Manor in Brockville, and most recently at Portobello Manor in Orleans. Helen’s family gives special thanks to the staff at both retirement homes for the wonderful care and support they provided to Helen and her family during these more difficult times.
Helen will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sheila Barnard (Orleans), and daughter-in-law Sheila Burridge (Maynard); her cherished grandchildren, Chet (Nadia) and Chelsea Barnard, Zachary (Sheenah), Samantha, and Matthew (Mika) Burridge; her lovely great granddaughters, Abigail, Layla and Lena; her beloved brother, Tom (Shirley) Chant, and sister-in-law, Linda (the late Bill) Delaurier; as well as by many nieces, nephews and close friends. Helen was predeceased by her parents, the late Harold and Louise Chant, and had been greatly saddened by the sudden passing of her granddaughter, Sarah Burridge, and later her son, the late Darryl Burridge.
Family and friends will be received for visitation at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville on Wednesday, October 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held in the Chapel on Thursday October 24th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Maynard Cemetery.
