We are so very sorry to hear of Aunt Leila's passing. Your Mom was always so kind, warm, and thoughtful. As a family, we have many great memories of camping at Algonquin Park, visits to the house in Brockville, and sitting on the dock at our cottage in Cardinal with Aunt Leila and Uncle Dick.
I still have the letters she used to send me after Mom (Connie) passed - they were always handwritten and included photos that she thought I might like. I have attached one of my favorites....Aunt Leila and Mom sitting on the Canal bank in Cardinal.
Thinking of you all. May she rest in peace.

In October of 2021, before we moved from Toronto to Vancouver, we made a final weekend trip to visit Granny in Brockville. After a lunch of Don’s Fish & Chips around Granny’s kitchen table with Aunt Cindy as well, Granny asked if we could go for a drive. Her short-term memory wasn’t amazing (she kept telling Ev he’d look much better without his beard), but as soon as she was in the passenger seat her long-term memory kicked in and we were cruising to her home town of Cardinal. Without missing a beat, she regaled us with stories of growing up with her many brothers and sisters, and of her favourite activity – dressing up and going out dancing with her friends. We drove by the land where her home once stood, and stopped by the cemetery to visit a few of her family members. It was a special day together, and one of many memories growing up with Granny and Grandpa at 26 Duke Street (and of course Cranberry Lake). Emily and I were chatting this week about how their home was perfect for playing as kids – the cowboy doors into the kitchen, the always stocked treats tray on top of the piano at Christmas, playing pool and darts in the basement, and the tiniest mugs and glasses we’d pour sips of pop into. The only rule was that Granny’s chocolate fudge bars were off limits. We wish we could be there alongside the family in person and send all our love. We’re thinking of everyone and are so appreciative of having such a great Granny in our lives helping shape who we are today.
